Make This: DIY Bathroom Accessories Two Ways

Admittedly, the bathroom is ane of the rooms of every house or apartment we've lived in that is neglected when it comes to decorating. Information technology's kind of a no-frills zone for nearly people, but I didn't want to abandon it completely. So I whipped up a footling something to bring DIY into the least-decorated room of the firm.

Hither's what you'll need to make your own peekaboo soap dispenser / bloom vase:

Materials:

  • liquid leaf in silver (or aureate)
  • paint brush
  • old soap dispenser
  • masking tape or washi tape (to create a stencil)
  • scissors (for cutting the stencil)

Stride by Step Instructions:

  1. Find an onetime lather dispenser that you want to makeover or buy a new 1 that you like the shape of. I got mine from Target and information technology was under $x). Wipe it clean from dust and debris and remove the pump.
  2. Grab your tape and start layering information technology (as shown in the photograph below) to create a large expanse for your stencil. *Make sure you layer your record onto a non-stick surface, like a table, that y'all can easily peel the tape from when you are ready.
  3. Draw any shape y'all want to utilise direct onto the tape to use as a guide. I went with a circle, just any other shape works just as well.
  4. Skin your layered record abroad from the non-stick surface and cutting out the shape. This is now your stencil – the area that you exercise not desire paint to go.
  5. Stick your stencil onto the surface of your soap dispenser and make sure it is really secure. Button the unabridged surface down a few times to make sure that no paint goes underneath the stencil area.
  6. At present it'due south time to pigment. I used a minor brush and did ii coats. If you lot are using a larger brush or a sponge castor (which would probably be the all-time so there are no brush strokes) it volition take less fourth dimension. The silver foliage doesn't take long to try to the bear on.
  7. Once you've painted at least two coats and allowed the pigment to fully dry, remove the tape advisedly and touch up whatever areas equally needed. Optional: Peak coat of sealant.

And that's information technology! At present all you have to practise is decide if you want to use your newly revamped dispenser for soap or flowers!

Here are the step-by-step instructions in pictures…

And hither are a couple more photos of the finished pieces. I honey that this doubles as a vase (of course you'd accept to make sure in that location is no lather in information technology first)…

Which version is your favorite? The vase or the soap dispenser?
